I am Janice Quinopez Angalan. I have been teaching for 13 years. I have taught students of different ages and nationalities. Before I came to China, I taught Koreans in the Philippines for 2 years. When I moved to China, I spent my first few years teaching kindergarteners. I must say I enjoyed every minute of it. I also got the chance to be a homeroom teacher in an international school where I taught children from India, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Hungary and Korea. Having been exposed to students with different cultural backgrounds, I have learned that by being culturally responsive and appropriate, I can easily reach out to them. In 2012, I moved to Beijing Shuren-Ribet Private School and had been here since then.
As a child growing up in a family of educators, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I always enjoyed helping others learn and grow. That is the reason why after I finished my Bachelors Degree in Psychology, I took up Education. I also hold a TEFL certificate which helped me learn more approaches in teaching English.
I believe all children are capable of learning, if given the proper motivation and direction from their teachers. I teach students in a way that has some straightforward instructions but I also give them a room to grow and expand on their own. I give them the freedom that allows expression and creativity. I let them experiment with their likes and dislikes for I believe this is a way for them to realize their strengths and weaknesses.
Teaching is my calling. I love teaching because I get to introduce the children to the world of opportunities. My students’ bright smiles and big hugs make my day.
